//six 14// Subscription Tutorial

27 06 2008

Recently, Josh gave a math lesson here on the //six 14// blog. Well, here’s another lesson for you. (But it has nothing to do with math; I’m an English major.)

You may have noticed, over at the top of the sidebar on the right, the options to subscribe to this blog. And you may have wondered what will happen if you click on one of those links. Well, what will happen is that you’ll find it a lot easier to keep up with the information found here at the //six 14// blog! You have two simple options.

First, you can subscribe in a feed-reader. If you use a feed-reader, then the feed-reader will automatically look for updates on any blog to which you subscribe and will notify you when there is new material. You can then either read the content right in your feed-reader, or you can click through to the blog to read the content there. Two of the most commonly used feed-readers are Bloglines and Google reader. (For a really helpful step-by-step guide to subscribing via Google reader, see this article by Abraham Piper on the Desiring God blog.) Once you’ve set up a feed-reader for yourself, you can click on the button to the right that says, “Subscribe in a reader,” and get walked through a two-step process to subscribe.

The second option is to subscribe by email. If you click the link that says, “Subscribe by Email,” an email subscription request form will open up. You type in your email address, confirm that you’re a real live person, and then verify your subscription in order to activate it. Once you’ve done that, any new content we put on the //six 14// blog will come right to your inbox. Easy, huh?

The difference between the two forms of subscribing rests on your preference. Don’t want to add more clutter to your email inbox? Subscribe in a feed-reader, and then visit your feed-reader online when you have time to read. Don’t want to set up a feed-reader and add another website to keep track of? Subscribe by email and have content delivered directly to you. Either way, subscribing will save you time and ensure that you don’t miss any important announcements or helpful content. So what are you waiting for?

Some June Math

13 06 2008

I know school got out a little while ago for most of you.  But here are a couple of formulas to work through this weekend:

//six 14// = 6/14 @ 6:14

six:14_pizza = $3 @ 5:30

If you have trouble understanding these equations, please contact a friend from church to help you.  The answers are in last week’s bulletin.

High School Youth and Parents Cook-Out

5 06 2008

All high school youth (those who will be going into the 9th-12th grades in the fall) and their parents (one or both) are invited to a cook-out at the Trainors’ house on June 22 at 4 p.m. In addition to cooking out, I hope to:

  • have some time to get to know each other better, and answer any questions you may have
  • lay out some of the vision for the coming year and the invaluable role our high school youth can play in that
  • talk a bit about the youth admin team that we’re forming

We’ll also play some Wiffle ball! If you are able to come, please RSVP contacting Andrea at the church office before June 18.
